The Museum was created in 1960 in one of the Butte's oldest buildings, constructed in the 17th century: the Maison du Bel Air. Surrounded by gardens, it was the creative home of artists such as Auguste Renoir, Émile Bernard, Raoul Dufy, Charles Camoin, Suzanne Valadon and Maurice Utrillo. 

Jacques Prévert, rêveur d'images exhibition, from October 18, 2024 to February 16, 2025.

While 2024 celebrates the centenary of Surrealism, it's also the 70th anniversary of Jacques Prévert's move to Cité Véron (above the Moulin Rouge) in the 18th arrondissement of Paris in 1955. The Musée de Montmartre takes up the theme of this key figure, known first and foremost as a poet and screenwriter, but whose creative output extends far beyond that. Jacques Prévert was a multi-faceted artist who devoted a significant part of his life to the visual arts.      

From October 18, 2024 to February 16, 2025, museum mediators lead guided tours of the temporary exhibition "Jacques Prévert" every Saturday morning from 11am to 12:30pm.

From January 1, 2024, museum mediators will lead guided tours of the permanent collection on Sunday mornings from 11am to 12:30pm, with the exception of the first Sunday of the month, which will be devoted to family visits.

You'll discover paintings, posters & drawings that trace the history of the Butte Montmartre, as well as the effervescence of its workshops and the atmosphere of its cabarets.

Would you like to spend some time with the family while discovering the artistic effervescence of Montmartre?

Every first Sunday of the month, let our mediators guide you through the permanent collection for an hour. Accompanied by their parents, children are invited to explore the history of the hilltop through explanations of works of art and anecdotes, all in a way that's appropriate for the youngest visitors.

Visits are open to children aged 5 to 12, and the presence of an adult is compulsory; maximum 2 adults per child.

Every Saturday at 2:30pm and every Wednesday at 7:30pm, the Comité des Fêtes de Montmartre and the Musée de Montmartre offer a guided tour of the vineyards, followed by a tasting of Clos Montmartre wine and free admission to the Musée de Montmartre.
